Dr. BISHOP Pastor GARY L. CANTUE is the third of eight children born to the late Johnnie and Ruth Cantue on June 30, 1955 in Monroe, Louisiana. At an early age, the family moved to Beaumont, Texas where he attended public schools and graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in 1973.

In 1975 he accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior and was filled  with the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:4. After being called into the Gospel Ministry in January 1977, he received his Minister's License from the Church of God in Christ. He further received his Certificate of Pastoral Theology from the Charles Harrison Mason System of Bible Colleges and was late appointed as the Pastor of Maxson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Beaumont, Texas in October 1981. In the year of 1987 he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pastoral Theology from the Charles Harrison Mason System of Bible Colleges. Then in June 1991, Pastor Gary Cantue was elevated as Superintendent of the Beaumont Northern District in the Texas Southeast First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and added a Master's Degree from the Lake Charles Bible College in 2010. After continuing studies he earned his Doctorate in Philosophy in 2013 from the Southeast Texas Regional Bible College. Bishop Gary Louis Cantue retired from Chevron Oil Company in 1992 after 22 years of services to assume the full-time Pastoral responsibilities and other CIVIC duties.

He was appointed as a Commissioner of the Beaumont Housing Authority, where he served for 13 consecutive years. He served on the Citizens United for Academic Excellence Committee (CUAEC) to assist in passing a 380 Million Dollar ($380,000,000) School Bond.

He presently serves as the President of the Ministerial Brotherhood Alliance of Southeast Texas (MBA), and Vice Chairman of the People's Political Action Committee (PPAC). Bishop Gary Cantue was further elevated to the Office of Auxiliary Bishop in the Church of God in Christ in June 2021. He now serves as the Ecclesiastical Jurisdictional Prelate of the Newly Established Texas Golden Triangle Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. Bishop Gary Louis Cantue is married to Mrs. Sister Cookie Jane Cantue.

About Our Jurisdictional Prelate Office & Service:

They are the Spiritual and Administrative Leaders of a Church of God in Christ jurisdiction (oversight of a group of local districts and churches).  They are Chief Defenders of the Faith and representatives of the National Church.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Spiritual Leadership providing guidance and oversight to Pastors and Congregations.

Lead Jurisdictional Worship Services, Convocations, and Significant Ceremonies.

Safeguard Doctrinal and Moral Integrity.

 

Adminstration:

Oversee the organization and activities of all churches in the jurisdiction.

Appoint or Approve Pastors, Superintendents, and other leaders.

Ensure alignment with National Church Policies and Procedures.

 

Teaching and Mentorship:

Mentor Pastors and Ministers in Spiritual Growth and Leadership.

Host Leadership Training and Pastoral Development Programs.

Promote Theological Study and Adherence to the Church of God in Christ Doctrine.

 

Representation:

Serve as the Laison between Local Churches and the National Church.

Represent the Jurisdiction in th General Assembly and National Events.
